Introduction to AOG — part 2: The Adventure System

Arena of Glory
3 min readNov 24, 2021

The first stage of Arena of Glory’s gameplay release will be our Adventure system. With your army of fearless gladiators, you may answer to requests within the Roman Empire. Be it sending mercenaries to protect the local merchant, or escorting a governor through treacherous routes, you have your work cut out for you. Through accomplishing these tasks on your adventures, you will earn our in-game currency, Gold, which you may use to hire stronger gladiators, bolster your strength and extend your influence in the Empire.

The Adventure System UI

At our initial release, each adventure party can accommodate between 2 to 9 gladiators, depending on the duration of the adventure. Longer adventures will have a higher cap limit for gladiators. Each player has 3 adventure slots that they will be able to refresh every 3 hours. Once the player sends gladiators on an adventure, they cannot be recalled until the adventure is completed. The gladiator NFTs sent on an adventure will be staked in the smart contract until the adventure is finished and rewards are claimed. Adventure rewards will be calculated based on a combination of multiple factors. These include adventure rarity, gladiators’ rarity, and the size of the party. The reward quantum will also be relative to the reward pool at the time of adventure. The formula used to calculate rewards will be explained in our tokenomics article.

Select Your Trusty Gladiators

Adventures come in six rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic. See below for the chance of rolling different adventure rarities, and the prerequisites to embark on them.

Common 63% — No requirement

Uncommon 22% — Common gladiator required

Rare 10% — Uncommon gladiator required

Epic 3.5% — Rare gladiator required

Legendary 1.4% — Epic gladiator required

Mythic 0.1% — Legendary gladiator required

Adventures of Different Rarities

You will qualify for adventures that are one rarity higher than your highest tier gladiator. For example, a team with a minimum of one Rare gladiator will qualify for an Epic adventure. In the future, certain adventures may also carry special requirements, so look out for them!

Furthermore, adventures will come in variable lengths. Common adventures are always “Very short” (30 minutes); you will be able to go on those adventures without owning any gladiator NFTs at all. The maximum amount of gladiators you can send to a common adventure is 2 gladiators.

Beyond common adventures, you have adventures that will last for three different durations. Please see below for their rolling probabilities and requirements.

Short adventures (33.34%)— 1 hour, minimum 1 gladiator needed, maximum of 4 gladiators

Medium adventures (33.33%)— 2 hours, minimum 2 gladiators needed, maximum of 6 gladiators

Long adventures (33.33%) — 3 hours, minimum 3 gladiators needed, maximum of 9 gladiators

It will be wise to amass an army of gladiators of high rarities, so that you may embark on the most rewarding adventures!

To summarise, adventures are your first step into Arena of Glory. Our future updates are designed to reward skillful players, as well as those who invest time and effort in our project. Stay tuned as we update our development progress in the upcoming Roadmap.
